Supporting Teachers through Professional Learning

Professional Learning Services - Previous Revision

The NCTE Consulting Network is one of many professional development opportunities offered by NCTE.  Other options include the Pathways ProgramWeb Seminars and Resource Kits.  Based on the NCTE Guideline, Principles of  Professional Development, all of these work together to provide the tools, resources, and support that teachers need to make a positive impact on student learning.

Are you responsible for planning professional development experiences for teachers in your school or district, or are you looking for a presenter for a literacy conference?  Let NCTE's network of experienced literacy consultants help you plan for your event or ongoing professional development needs.

School In the Spotlight

East Grand Rapids Public School in Michigan invited  NCTE consultant,
Katherine McKnight , to present a one-day workshop on getting all students engaged in writing.  Reviews were excellent including this comment from one teacher:

"You worked us through an activity for the "Reader's Response" in which we read a short story, answered the 5w's questions, and then had to came up with a way to showcase the plot line of the story for the rest of the group.  This was a great activity and I am hoping to use it with my challenge language arts classes."
