Katherine BomerA renowned keynote speaker and literacy consultant for over twenty years, Katherine Bomer travels nationally and internationally to work with school districts, literacy coaches, and individual schools on various reading and writing topics. Katherine has taught primary and intermediate grades in New York, Indiana, and most recently, Texas. She worked for five years at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project with Lucy Calkins, and she continues today her association with that community. Her most recent book is Hidden Gems: Naming and Teaching from the Brilliance in Every Student's Writing , and she is also the author of the popular Writing A Life: Teaching Memoir to Sharpen Insight, Shape Meaning, and Triumph Over Tests.  With Randy Bomer, she wrote For a Better World: Reading and Writing for Social Action

    Day-long, multiple-day, and weekend  interactive professional development presentations on all aspects of literacy instruction, including writing workshop, reading workshop, genre studies, assessment, strategies for emergent readers and writers of all ages, curriculum development, literature circles, and read-aloud discussions.
