Lawrence Baines is a former secondary school teacher, writing project director, computer geek, author, and professor. Baines has written or edited four books on the teaching of writing, including Teaching Adolescents to Write (2003) and Going Bohemian: Engaging adolescents in the art of writing well (2000), which won an award for "best book in education" from Independent Publisher. Baines has extensive experience working with urban and rural school districts as well as with state departments of education. His areas of expertise include writing and raising achievement by making learning an enjoyable activity. Currently he is a professor of English Education at the University of Toledo.
