NCTE Affiliates and Assemblies - Previous Revision

NCTE has several groups---constituent organizations, Affiliates and Assemblies---that help to meet the unique needs of your career, classroom, and community.

Affiliates
Affiliates are geographically-based associations of teachers or preservice teachers of English language arts, literacy, and English studies.  Local affiliates provide professional development opportunities, electronic and face-to-face networks, print and online publications, and, most importantly, the collected wisdom of many of the best teachers in the field.

Assemblies
Assemblies are membership groups which have been authorized by the NCTE Executive Committee.  They:

  • serve individuals who share the same special interests or who have similar jobs.
  • offer their members the opportunity to meet face to face during the NCTE Annual Convention.
  • provide information to members through newsletters, journals,  listservs, or websites.
  • present sessions at the NCTE Annual Convention.
