Mary CappelliniMary Cappellini is an experienced consultant, teacher, and published author who works with teachers and administrators across the country in small or large group settings, helping them plan and provide a balanced literacy program for ALL students, especially English Language Learners.

 

Douglas Fisher

Douglas Fisher has national and international consulting experiences and numerous publications.  He works with teachers and administrators on educating the struggling reader, the use of alternative texts, content literacy, and English Language Learners.

 

Barbara FloresBarbara Flores delights in working with preschool and elementary schools focusing on beginning literacy and biliteracy development; second language development across the content areas; beginning ELL readers; struggling ELL readers; and teaching English language learners.

David & Yvonne FreemanDavid & Yvonne Freeman are not only experienced NCTE consultants, but also noted authors of several books and journal articles.  Their expertise includes working with ELL learners on reading proficiency, developing academic language, and dual language programs. They present to K-12 teachers around the world.

 

Nancy FreyNancy Frey is eager to work with K-12 teachers and administrators on building a literacy framework; content area reading strategies; graphic novels in middle and secondary classrooms, teaching English language learners; coaching; differentiated instruction; and secondary reading and intervention.

Danling FuDanling Fu works and researches in New York City schools with large populations of new immigrant students, and she consults on ESL and Bilingual Education with K-12 educators. She has published numerous articles and written many book chapters, and she can present on literacy instruction for English language learners, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

 

Mary Lou McCloskey

Mary Lou McCloskey has national and international experience consulting on topics related to program planning, teacher education, curriculum development, methodology, and program evaluation for English as a foreign language and English as a second language for school-age learners. 

 

Sandra MercuriSandra Mercuri presents on working with Bilingual & ELL students on developing academic language across the content areas, implementing and evaluating bilingual and dual language programs, and implementing differentiated instruction for dual language settings across disciplines and for second language learners in mainstream classrooms.

 

Mary-Catherine MoranMary-Catherine Moran (M.C.) has more than 25 years experience in the field of education. She has been a classroom teacher, a Special Education Training Specialist, and a literacy coach. Her experience includes extensive work with migrant children, second language learners, and students with disabilities.

 

Carol RothenbergCarol Rothenberg has coached teachers, facilitated study groups of teachers and administrators, and provided assistance to schools on English learners. When consulting, Carol taps her experiences as a former bilingual special education teacher, high school Spanish teacher, and elementary literacy coach. Her presentation topics focus on language and literacy across the curriculum for K-12 English learners.


Katie Van SluysKatie Van Sluys has worked as a teacher in elementary, bilingual, international, and college level settings, and currently she is a professor at DePaul University in Chicago specializing in literacy. As a consultant she works with diverse districts on a wide range of topics including Multilingual Learners in Literacy Classrooms.

 

Ingrid WendtIngrid Wendt specializes in teaching poetry, and her unique presentations include using poetry instruction to help teach ESL and addressing the needs of at-risk and special needs students through poetry.
