I had the call to teach at about four years old in a nursery school, and I started teaching in 1968. Now, at the age of 62, I still feel that call. It has remained, though the strategies in the classroom have changed as I have evolved.
The more I learn to honor myself, the more confidence I bring to each classroom experience. Thus, the transformation of the experience! The evidence shows up as more interaction in the classroom, more risk-taking, more willingness to express heart and spirit. Now I have students move, breathe, exercise, and even get a drink of water in each class. I know the value of body/mind/spirit education, and I practice this principle in my own life. Teaching has become a three-strand braid where I weave learning into wisdom for myself and for my students.
