As a beginning teacher, I was full of energy and love for the creativity of planning lessons, then going into a room full of students and seeing if my ideas worked. I read everything I could get my hands on. I went to workshops and conferences. I took part in the Writing Project and got my master’s degree in English education. I fell in love with my students as we struggled and grew together.
Then, I found my true calling helping to create the first Glasser Quality Public High School, based on William Glasser's Choice Theory. Here, students and teachers work together to create a school filled with happiness and fellowship.
I pursued National Board Certification to freshen my skills, and now, after 30 years of teaching, I am grateful to still feel energized and enriched, every single day. I wouldn't trade careers with anyone else on earth.
