The State Coordinators of English Language Arts (SCELA) are a special interest group who are members of the Council on English Leadership (CEL). State Coordinators work for their state agency and are responsible for leadership across the state. To participate in the SCELA, individuals should be employed by the SEA and have responsibility for at least one aspect of ELA/literacy across their state.
To be listed as a member of SCELA and added to the SCELA mailing list, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTE: Early in the summer of 2015, the CEL Executive Committee extended an invitation to the leaders of the NCTE Assembly for State Coordinators of the English Language Arts (ASCELA) to merge the two organizations. As of August 2015, ASCELA has dissolved its status as an NCTE Assembly and its leaders, Morgan Dunton (Maine) and Tricia Parker (Nebraska), have accepted the invitation to join with CEL. All former members of ASCELA are encouraged to join CEL.
