Join the Conference on English Leadership

The Conference on English Leadership (CEL) welcomes all those concerned with language arts leadership.  Since 1970, CEL has assisted language arts leaders in sharing mutual problems and insights, exchanging resources, seeking the advice of successful leaders, and investigating issues of greatest concern to leaders. CEL members include English/language arts leaders at all levels: classroom teachers, department heads, language arts coordinators, supervisors, consultants, resource teachers, principals, directors of instruction, college and university English educators, affiliate leaders and other exercising formal or informal leadership in their schools, districts, or states.  

Join CEL to enhance your leadership skills, to study core and controversial language arts issues, and to network with other leaders. CEL members receive the journal English Leadership Quarterly (ELQ) and may participate in the CEL Convention program, vote in CEL elections, contact CEL members for help and advice.

ELQEnglish Leadership Quarterly is a publication of CEL, and helps department chairs, K-12 supervisors, and other leaders in their role of improving the quality of English instruction.  ELQ offers short articles on a variety of issues important to decision makers in the English language arts. Published August, October, February, and April. ELQ is currently available only as a green (online) subscription option. $25/yr. Includes standard individual membership in CEL.

The Conference on English Leadership (CEL) is a collaborative, dynamic, discussion-based forum for English language arts leaders to explore current and emerging issues. CEL welcomes the involvement of all persons who wish to work with others to seek solutions to problems and to share their special insights with others. Leaders of English programs in a variety of settings--rural or urban, small districts or large, public or private, traditional or experimental--will find a vibrant forum for exploring contrasting and controversial ideas within CEL.

CEL is a conference of the National Council of Teachers of English, and individual membership in CEL includes membership in NCTE.
