Janelle Oxford has been in education for the past 21 years. Currently, Janelle serves as the English Department Chair and Junior/Senior Guidance Counselor at Robinson High School in Robinson, Illinois. Janelle also serves as an adjunct English instructor for Lincoln Trail College in Robinson. She is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, and a National Board Certified Teacher.
Participating in the National Council of Teachers of English and Conference on English Leadership are two of Janelle’s professional highlights. She joined NCTE when she was a novice teacher to learn from those who were more experienced. Since joining CEL more than five years ago, Janelle has been inspired to bring many of the initiatives shared at CEL conventions to Robinson High School, a rural school in East Central Illinois.
Janelle enjoys spending time with her family and traveling as much as she can. She enjoys good books and appreciates all genres of literature. Some of her favorite authors include: Flannery O’Connor, John Updike, and Joyce Carol Oates. Janelle strives to share her love of learning, communication, and literature with her students and colleagues. Janelle serves as a teacher leader in Robinson’s literacy committee.
