The Conference on English Leadership (CEL) invites educators to participate in a transformative professional learning experience at CEL’s 2013 Convention. Throughout the two and a half day convention, sessions will focus on ways educators adapt their leadership and their instruction to meet the changing needs of students, teachers, and communities. Participants will discuss how teachers and leaders transform English language arts classrooms into interactive, authentic, and rigorous learning environment while also meeting the national and local standards for literacy. Throughout the convention, attendees will participate in interactive sessions presented by literacy leaders who are department chairs, curriculum coordinators, building administrators, college professors, teachers, and education consultants.

In addition to the great sessions, the 2013 CEL Convention will feature outstanding keynote speakers including:

  • Donalyn Miller, Fifth Grade Teacher in Fort Worth, Texas & Author of The Book Whisperer (2009) and Reading in the Wild (2013)
  • Troy Hicks, Director of the Chippewa Writing Project & Author of The Digital Writing Workshop (2009) and Crafting Digital Writing (2013)
  • Eric Sheninger, Principal at New Milford High School in Bergen County, New Jersey and Co-Author of Communicating and Connecting with Social Media (Essentials for Principals) (2011)
  • Meenoo Rami, High School English Teacher at Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania & Moderator of #engchat on Twitter

Registration includes three meals and two social events, allowing participants to enjoy the collegial spirit of CEL. The 2013 CEL Convention will offer us the opportunity to share our learning, network with our colleagues and bring transformative practices back to our home districts. We hope you’ll join us!
