Conference on English Leadership Awards

Exemplary Leadership Award

The CEL Exemplary Leadership Award is given annually to an NCTE member who is an outstanding English language arts educator and leader. NCTE and CEL members nominate an exceptional leader who has had an impact on the profession. Recipients receive a certificate presented at the Monday Luncheon during the CEL Convention. Deadline February 1

Leadership Achievement Award

The Leadership Achievement Award is given in recognition of leadership achievement. Recipients are selected from nominees for the Exemplary Leadership Award whom committee members believe to be worthy of recognition. Recipients receive a certificate, which is presented at the Monday Luncheon during the CEL Convention.

Innovative Leadership Award

The Innovative Leadership Award is given in recognition of innovative leadership at the local, regional, and/or national level or for innovative approaches to teaching and/or professional development through new and progressive methods and delivery models. Recipients are selected from nominees for the Exemplary Leadership Award whom committee members believe to be worthy of recognition. Recipients receive a certificate, which is presented at the Monday Luncheon during the CEL Convention

Teacher-Leader of Excellence Award

The first Teacher-Leader of Excellence Award winner will be honored in 2015. This new annual award is given to recognize an NCTE member who is an outstanding English Language Arts educator and local leader. NCTE and CEL members are encouraged to nominate an exceptional teacher-leader who has had a strong, positive impact on their school, district, and/or state through work that has focused on exceptional contributions to teaching and local leadership practices, such as team building, coaching, and curriculum development. Recipients will receive a certificate presented at the Monday Luncheon during the CEL Convention. Deadline February 1

Best Article Award

ELQThe CEL English Leadership Quarterly Best Article Award is given annually to the authors of two articles written and published in English Leadership Quarterly. Book reviewers will not be eligible for consideration, but articles written for specific English Leadership Quarterly columns may be considered. Teachers currently on leave may be considered, as may former teachers presently not employed.
