This session will be the kick-off for a full day of CEE-sponsored sessions. The roundtables will explore the challenges and possibilities of teacher education. Join aspiring, new, and experienced teacher educators in this wide-ranging session.

CEE Membership Meet and Greet: Social Hour - 4:00 - 5:15 p.m. (Session E.52) - MGM Grand Conference Center, Grand Ballroom, Room 117, Level One
This year's brief program will begin with the recognition of the winners of the 2012-2013 CEE research grant competition and include announcements about ELA teacher education position openings. The social hour will continue with time for informal conversations with propsective candidates, as well as time to meet and mingle with English educators from around the country and the world.

CEE Emig and Britton Awards:
Exemplary Research and Scholarship in English Education

The Conference on English Education gives three prestigious awards in honor of Richard A. Meade, James N. Britton, and Janet Emig. In this session, the 2012 award winners present the work that earned them this year's tributes, including research on teacher development, teacher reflective inquiry, and exemplary scholarship in English Education.
James N. Britton Award: Sara Kajder, Shadyside Academy Middle School, Fox Chapel, PA
Janet Emig Award: Brian White, Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI
The Richard A. Meade Award will be not be presented in 2012.

James Moffett and CEE Research Grant Winners

The Conference on English Education offers annual grants to support research. The James Moffett Award supports projects inspired by the scholarship of James Moffett. The CEE Research Grants foster research in English teacher education. The award winners will present their work twice so that participants can attend two roundtable discussions.

This day-long workshop will interest K-adult teachers, teacher educators, graduate students and researchers. Presenters/performers include representatives from Cirque du Soleil, the Smith Center for the Performing Arts and a local school. They will be joined by English education faculty from Colorado State University: Pam Coke, Antero Garcia, Cindy O'Donnell-Allen, and workshop facilitator, Louann Reid.
The CEE Strand is a program of sessions and meetings that are designed for those who are engaged in the preparation, support, and continuing education of teachers of English language arts.
L. Ramon Veal Research Roundtable - Sunday, November 18, 2012, 8:30 - 9:45 a.m. (Session L.02) - MGM Grand, Studio Room 8, Grand Arena, Main Floor by Grand Garden Arena
The L. Ramon Veal Research Roundtable allows researchers, graduate students, and teacher-researchers to submit research papers for review by senior researchers who will provide constructive feedback to these often new researchers in the field. The research roundtable is characterized by friendly yet extremely professional feedback from participants who offer a variety of perspectives.
