Mission:
- Discussion and activities center on the following topics and questions:
- Should standardized tests of teacher candidates test content knowledge or test teaching ability?
- What are the adverse impacts of standardized tests?
- How do we educate our own membership on the nature of state licensure and candidate assessment?
- What do we mean by performance-based assessment and standards-based assessment?
- Who should be involved in making decisions about candidates for teaching?
- How can the profession recapture control of who is licensed to teach and who is not?
Current Projects:
- Look at NCTE/NCATE approved institutions' assessments.
- Systematic study of "top" 1 to 5 assessments.
