To gain a better understanding of graduate and professional development programs in English Education from the perspective of those involved in creating and sustaining them, using that data to accurately describe graduate teacher education and pedagogical development in a time of standards and "packaged" PD programs. Little comprehensive data exists on existing models of English education graduate programs, yet providing information on these models would be useful for faculty who are working to establish or further develop graduate programs.
Developing case studies and exploratory narrative data to profile English education graduate degrees using specific programs as an initial data sample.
The Commission is working to gather descriptive data about existing graduate programs in English education to develop a "snapshot" of the various paths toward completing a graduate degree in English education.
The Commission is also interested in examining different state requirements for professional development and teacher certification.
