CEE offers numerous grants and awards for travel, research, and publications. All CEE awards are given annually and are presented at the NCTE Convention each year. Please follow the links below for detailed information on each award, criteria, and submission deadlines.
This grant offers up to two $500 awards for first-time NCTE Conference presenters who are members of groups historically underrepresented in NCTE and CEE. Eligible NCTE members must indicate their desire to be considered for the Cultural Diversity Grant on their NCTE Conference Proposal Form and submit an application by May 15. The James N. Britton Award for Inquiry within the English Language Arts recognizes exemplary systemic studies conducted by English language arts teachers of any grade level on any aspect of the inquirer' own teaching. Nominations can be made by the author of the study or by any language arts educator. Please click here for additional information.
The Janet Emig Award for Exemplary Scholarship in English Education recognizes exceptional articles published in the CEE journal English Education within the previous calendar year. Please click here for additional information.
The Richard Meade Award for Research in English Education recognizes exceptional research that investigates English language arts teacher development at any educational level and in any scope and setting. The James Moffett Memorial Award for Teacher Research is a grant (usually $1000) offered by CEE, in conjunction with the National Writing Project, to support English language arts-focused teacher research projects inspired by the scholarship of James Moffett.
