Travel, Parking, and Check-In

Travel to Campus

The Rose Hill (Bronx) campus of Fordham University is easily accessible from all the major airports in the New York metropolitan area: Kennedy International (JFK), LaGuardia(LGA), and Newark (EWR). However, LaGuardia (LGA) is the definitely the closest. The Riverdale/Jitney Limo service Phone (718-884-9400) will provide transportation to the Rose Hill campus from Laguardia for around $45 (which includes tolls and gratuity). Taxi service to the Rose Hill campus is available from all airports and may be slightly cheaper, depending on traffic (generally around $25 or so).

Visit the MTA website for information on public transportation. If you are traveling from the East Side of Manhattan, you can take the Metro North.

If you are traveling from the West Side near Lincoln Center, you have the option to take the Fordham University Ram Van from the Lincoln Center campus. This is a first-come, first-serve shuttle with limited service. For travel on Friday, June 17, you should arrive no later than 7:30 am and pay the $3.00 fee to reserve your spot on the shuttle. The shuttle departs at 8:15 am. Please visit the website for fare information and locations as well as a calendar with departure information.

Arrival on Campus

If you are arriving to the Rose Hill campus by taxi or car service, instruct the driver to take you to the Bathgate Avenue/East 191st Street entrance to the University. Finlay Hall is the first building on the right as you enter the pedestrian entrance at Bathgate and 191st.

If you are going to McGinley Hall, you can instruct your driver to let you out at either the Bathgate/191st Street entrance or the main vehicular entrance off of Southern Blvd, directly across from the New York Botanical Gardens.

If you arrive via D train or Metro North, you will enter the campus off of Fordham Road at 3rd Avenue (just beside the Metro North station). Follow campus signs to McGinley.

Parking

Persons who drive to the Rose Hill campus will enter from Southern Boulevard (map), just across the street from the entrance to the New York Botanical Garden. You will proceed to the guard gate and tell them that you are attending the conference. You will be able to purchase a one day pass for $10 or a 3 day pass for $30. Please have cash ready to pay the attendant. You will then be instructed to proceed to the parking garage. If you have the three-day pass, you have in and out privileges. You will need to display the parking pass in the windshield of your car.

Check-In

All registrants must check-in when arriving to Fordham for the first time to pick-up a conference packet, name badge, campus ID card, meal card, and, if applicable, dorm room information. Check-in will take place as follows:

Local Area and Attractions

The New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo are located directly across the road from the Fordham University Rose Hill campus. Just west of the Bronx Zoo is an enclave of colorful shops, charming cafes, top-notch Italian restaurants and cultural vitality known as Belmont-Arthur Avenue after its dual main streets. The Arthur Avenue Retail Market has fresh take-home or eat-in Italian delicacies, attracting shoppers from throughout the region; The Enrico Fermi Culturall Center features special events; and The Belmont Italian American Playhouse interprets the community experience in original, critically acclaimed productions. While the neighborhood is regarded as New York City’s true “Little Italy”, it also has thriving Latino and Albanian communities.

Information for Presenters

All of the rooms in Dealy Hall (where all sessions other than Roundtables and the General Sessions will be held) are SMART rooms--they have computers (PC) in the podium with a projector and an internet connection. Anyone can hook their own computer to the podium as well, if they wish. If your computer is a Mac, you will need to bring an adaptor. There are no interactive SMART boards. For the Roundtables In the McGinley Ballroom in McGinley Hall, there will be a computer with a projector as well, but it is a "roll in" rather than a permanent machine.

While we cannot know how many people will go to any session, the rooms on 2nd floor of Dealy Hall hold about 30 people and those on 3rd floor hold 40. Please plan accordingly when making copies for participants.
