National Day on Writing and CEE

You are invited to contribute to CEE’s gallery for The National Day on Writing!

Our gallery, “Becoming a Teacher of Writing: What Matters Most,” is now open for submissions on NCTE’s National Gallery of Writing website. As you develop your fall syllabi, you are encouraged to explore ways students might contribute to the gallery.

View sample writing prompts about writing and the teaching of writing for your pre-service and practicing teachers developed by CEE member Cathy Fleischer.

Call for Nominations: 2009 CEE National Technology Leadership Award

Each year, CEE identifies a recipient of the CEE National Technology Leadership Award.  All NCTE members are encouraged to nominate a colleague whose NCTE Convention presentation demonstrates cutting-edge and generative methods of integrating newer technologies into teacher education courses or workshops.  The CEE Technology Commission, whose members judge the nominations, strongly encourage presenters to self-nominate.  Visit the call for nominations for further details.

L. Ramon Veal Research Roundtable - Sunday, November 22, 2009, 8:30 - 9:45 a.m. (Session L.52) - Philadelphia Convention Center, Room 202B

The L. Ramon Veal Research Roundtable serves as a writers’ workshop for researchers. Experienced researchers, graduate students, and teacher researchers are invited to submit drafts of papers, proposals, or research-in progress along with questions that serve to direct readers’ attention. Participants are grouped at tables (4-6 papers per table) with a senior scholar familiar with the table’s thematic topic. Participants receive copies of papers several weeks before the conference and come to the research roundtable prepared to discuss those papers at their table. Research roundtable participants give and receive feedback on submissions at any stage in the research process – from finding a focus to data analysis, from selecting participants to publishing. The research roundtable is characterized by friendly yet extremely professional interactions from participants offering a variety of perspectives. See the call for submissions for details.

Attend the CEE events at the 2009 NCTE Annual Convention in Philadelphia!

Join us for a day of CEE events and sessions at the NCTE Annual Convention on Frirday, November 20!  In addition, this year's CEE Colloquium on Monday, November 23 promises to be an engaging field trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  The Philadelphia Museum of Art and Commission on Arts and Literacies come together in this all-day workshop to explore with participants a wide variety of strategies for integrating the visual arts and literacy in elementary, secondary, university, and professional development settings. This workshop offers a unique opportunity for participants to tour the Museum galleries with the guidance of art educators at the PMA, and to explore with members of COAL their experiences in designing and implementing arts-infused curricula.  Visit the CEE events page for details on these and other CEE events.
