Brad Hammer here--Just FYI, concerning points 1 and 2 of our committee's charge: As Editor of FORUM, I recently published a call (see the call in the most recent edition of FORUM in CCC) to all contingent faculty to fill out a survey on issues related to contingent labor-- the data that I'm looking for is exactly what our committee needs. The survey is hosted by NCTE at: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/survey.zgi?p=WEB229JDBVGW6B . Please check out the survey and pass the url along to anyone who can promote it as a way of collecting discursive and quantitative data. Also, in regard to point 2 of our charge, since I edit FORUM, can I charge Irvin (or someone else on the committee) to write a short article for FORUM (1500-2500 words) that highlights the work of the committee, promotes the survey, and disseminates our initial findings ? Do I have any takers? Brad

Schwalm here. Did you all catch today's CHE report on its survey of adjunct facuolty in the Chicago area? It is of modest value because of its regionalism and lack of a scientific sample. But it is interesting, nevertheless. I wouldn't want to generalize from it.

Right now, I would like some ideas on how to make the data we have be useful.
