November 2008 Update
The Newcomers’ Orientation Committee is happy to provide events and resources to welcome new CCCC attendees and members.
The Newcomers’ Orientation Committee will again offer a think tank at the 2009 CCCC for newcomers who are planning to propose presentations and sessions for the 2010 CCCC.
At this think tank, members of the Newcomers’ Orientation Committee and a team of very experienced facilitators will introduce the process of developing proposals for the 2010 CCCC.
We will begin the session with general advice and suggestions. Then, newcomers will be invited to work in small groups with facilitators with particular expertise and experience in areas that correspond to the 12 general clusters on the CCCC Call for Proposals.
As they did at last year’s think tank, facilitators will help newcomers conceptualize and frame their proposals; those with related topics will also have the chance to form panels and collaborate on more broadly defined subjects. Not only will newcomers gain experience in planning proposals for CCCC, they will also have the opportunity to meet other newcomers and established members of the discipline who engage in similar research.
