March 2015 Update
Once again this year, the Newcomers’ Orientation Committee offered several resources and events at CCCC to welcome first-time attendees and to introduce them to the opportunities for professional development available at the conference and within the organization. This committee hosted a coffee hour (Thursday morning), an orientation (Wednesday afternoon), a welcome booth (Wednesday-Friday), and a think tank for developing proposals for CCCC 2016 (Friday). The committee also participated in events sponsored by the Task Force on Cross-Generational Connections: a Wednesday workshop, “Opportunity, Reflection, and Tactical Foresight: Mapping the Full Span of Your Career from Graduate School to Post-Retirement” and a Dialog on Cross-Generational Perspectives on Thursday. Our goal is to help newcomers feel welcome at the conference, to engage with the opportunities that this conference and organization offer them, and to contribute to the field.
