Spring 2014 Update
Once again this year, the Newcomers’ Orientation Committee will offer several resources and events at CCCC to welcome first-time attendees and to introduce them to the opportunities for professional development available at the conference and within the organization. This committee will host a coffee hour (Thursday morning), an orientation (Wednesday afternoon), a welcome booth (Wednesday-Friday), and a think tank for developing proposals for CCCC 2015 (Friday). The committee will also sponsor a featured session (H07, Friday, 11:00-12:15) at which several established scholars and leaders in the field of composition and rhetoric who will speak of their own experiences as newcomers to the conference and the discipline. Our goal is to help newcomers feel welcome at the conference, to engage with the opportunities that this conference and organization offer them, and to contribute to the field.
