The Committee on Disability Issues worked collaboratively to develop the Policy on Disability, and we are pleased that it was adopted and affirmed by CCCC in November 2006.
We are now working on developing a website and blog, that would not only provide links to curricular resources but which also could become an interactive site for discussing disability issues in teaching and research, and in student, staff, and faculty lives.
A new SIG on Disability Issues has now been formed, and we invite anyone interested to attend its meetings at the annual convention (TSIG.11, Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 pm in the Hilton San Francisco Continental Ballroom 7). Also, look for the CDICC booth at the 2009 convention in San Francisco—we hope to raise awareness of disability issues at CCCC, and offer advice and support to all attendees. For instance, if you are wondering how you can make your presentation more accessible, come and see us.
Finally, the CDICC is excited to announce that Dr. Paul Longmore, a leader in the field of disability studies, will be a featured speaker at the 2009 convention (Featured Session I, Friday, March 13 at 12:30 pm in the Hilton San Francisco Continental Ballroom 4/5).
