Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines (PRESLM)
This program for middle schools, junior high, and high schools recognizes students, teachers, and schools for producing excellent literary magazines and encourages all schools to develop literary magazines, seeking excellence in writing and school-wide participation in production. Faculty advisors and principals will receive notice of ranked magazines by mail in January. Judging results are posted on the NCTE website at http://www.ncte.org/awards/student/preslm. 2012 brochure available in February. Mailing entry Deadline June 30.
Promising Young Writers (for 8th grade students). 2012 Brochure available in late October, 2011. This school-based writing program stimulates and recognizes student's writing talents and emphasizes the importance of writing skills among eighth-grade students. 2011 Results mailed to schools April 28, 2011.
Achievement Awards in Writing (for 11th grade students). 2012 Brochure available in October, 2011. This school-based writing program encourages high school students in their writing and recognizes publicly some of the best student writers in the nation.

NCTE/Norman Mailer Writing Award
The Norman Mailer Writers Colony and the National Council of Teachers of English jointly sponsor the 2011 Norman Mailer High School and College Writing Awards. Submission for 2011 entries is closed . April 28, 2011, Noon CST.
