The NCTE Advancement of People of Color Leadership Award (APCL) established in 2007 and first presented in 2008 recognizes a person of color who has made a significant contribution to NCTE and the development of our professional community. People of color refers to historically underrepresented groups--African American, American Indians, Asian Americans, Latinos, and Pacific Islanders.
The APCL Award does not need to be awarded each year – this award should be bestowed only when the subcommittee decides that nominations warrant presentation of the award.
The APCL Selection Committee will select an award recipient from nominations solicited from the Board of Directors, Affiliate Presidents, Caucus Chairs, and NCTE members of color. The Executive Committee will approve the committee’s selection.
NOTE: This award may be given to a deceased person.
If interested in nominating an individual for this award, please submit the following to the selection committee:
- Current curriculum vitae and/or resume
- 1-2 page nomination letter, which includes commentary on the qualities and services of the nominee.
Please send the nomination information via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
