Thursday, 11/21

Teri LesesneSuzanne LaneKick off the convention with these preconference sessions then join us at the Secondary Section Get-Together at 4:30 p.m. to hear speakers Teri Lesesne and Suzanne Lane. 

Finish up the evening with Tony Danza at the Thursday General Session.

Friday, 11/22

Start the morning out at the First-Timer's Breakfast from 7:00-8:00 a.m. sponsored by Random House Teacher Award for Literacy with presentation by Tony Danza. Get some tips on making the most of your convention experience, and find out who the award winners are.

Carol JagoDon't miss the Friday General Session with First Wave.

Join us for High School Matters Session DE.01 from 2:30-5:15 pm. for an interactive celebration of reading, writing, and reflective practices with brief keynote speakers and roundtable sessions featuring Carol Jago, Kelly Gallagher and more than 30 speakers.


Saturday, 11/23

Start off the morning with the ALAN Breakfast featuring author Walter Dean Myers.

The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of NCTE (ALAN) also sponsors Workshop W.14, "Celebrating Great Books for Young Adults: ALAN Turns 40" on Monday and Tuesday.

Ishmael BeahListen to author Ishmael Beah during the Secondary Luncheon at 12:30 p.m. The High School Teachers of Excellence Award and  Paul and Kate Farmer English Journal Writing Award will be presented as well.
