Then start the morning out at the First-Timer's Breakfast, "Mentoring Matters," from 7:00-8:00 a.m. sponsored by Random House Teacher Award for Literacy with presentation by Tony Danza. Get some tips on making the most of your convention experience, and find out who the award winners are.

The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of NCTE (ALAN) also sponsors Workshop W.14, "Celebrating Great Books for Young Adults: ALAN Turns 40" on Monday and Tuesday.
Come hear author Ishmael Beah during the Secondary Luncheon at 12:30 p.m. The High School Teachers of Excellence Award and Paul and Kate Farmer English Journal Writing Award will be presented.
