Secondary program sessions reflect the wide range of interests and needs of high school teachers. Whether this is your first time or your 20th, a pre-service or veteran teacher, a researcher or a professor, there are sessions, speakers, and special events that will be of interest to you!

Thursday, 11/21

Kick off the convention with these preconference sessions then join us at the Secondary Section Get-Together at 4:30 p.m. to hear speakers Teri Lesesne and Suzanne Lane. 

Finish up the evening with Tony Danza at the Thursday General Session.

Friday, 11/22

Are you a first time attendee? Then start the morning out at the First-Timer's Breakfast, "Mentoring Matters," from 7:00-8:00 a.m. sponsored by Random House Teacher Award for Literacy with presentation by Tony Danza. Get some tips on making the most of your convention experience, and find out who the award winners are.

Don't miss the Friday General Session.

Join us for High School Matters Session DE.01 from 2:30-5:15 pm.


Saturday, 11/23

Come hear author Ishmael Beah during the Secondary Luncheon at 12:30 p.m.  


Sunday, 11/24

Keith Gilyard

Come listen to NCTE President, Sandy Hayes, as she gives her presidential address at the Sunday General Session.
