The National Gallery of Writing: A Comprehensive Look at Writing Today that Would be Incomplete without You!

With the grand opening of the National Gallery of Writing and the celebration of the National Day on Writing (October 20th), we’re just getting started! See what all the excitement is about and how you and your students can get involved today. Join us in the learning lab to learn how to browse the existing galleries and writing contributions, upload your own piece of writing, and/or start a local gallery of writing that could give your local writing efforts just the visibility they need.
Make a Difference in Federal Policy

Join NCTE’s Legislative Associate, Stacey Novelli, as you gain information about LEARN, a comprehensive literacy bill that affects children and teachers from birth to grade 12. In this learning lab session you will have the opportunity to network with other NCTE members and write to your members of Congress to voice your support. Be an active advocate.
Supporting School Wide Professional Development Efforts with Pathways for Advancing Adolescent Literacy

Hear from a district curriculum director and a NCTE literacy consultant as they share how this yearlong professional development resource supported teachers as they explored ways to better support their high school students' literacy needs.
Got a Great Idea for a Convention Session? Discover How to Write a Winning Proposal for the 2010 Convention
4:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Hear from former proposal reviewers as they describe what characteristics help a meeting proposal become accepted. You will also have an opportunity to develop or fine-tune your own ideas for a proposal. The 2010 NCTE meeting program proposal system will be in use during the convention, so bring your proposal ideas to the meeting!

Transformative Professional Development with Pathways for 21st Century Literacies
