Affiliate Leadership Meeting

New Format for the 2017 NCTE Affiliate Leadership Meeting

July 7-9 in Atlanta, Georgia

Dear Affiliate Presidents and Leaders:

We are pleased to share an exciting opportunity with you and invite your participation. As you know, NCTE has a long-standing history with state affiliate organizations. Affiliates have very much been on our minds during the last year as substantial organizational strategizing and planning have taken place. In short, we believe the national challenges and opportunities mirror many at the state level. We want to continue growing together.

And we did as NCTE Executive Director  Emily Kirkpatrick and  Affiliate Director Millie Davis recount!

To that end, NCTE has committed to a redesigned leadership meeting this July, and all affiliates–two representatives from each–are invited to join us. Please mark your calendars for July 7-9, 2017, for a meeting in Atlanta, Georgia.

Meeting Registration
Hotel Registration

If you are one of the following, you'll need to pay a $185 registration fee to attend:

  • third, fourth, fifth, or sixth representatives from an affiliate,
  • policy analysts,
  • NCTE members with other roles in the Council,
  • any NCTE member who would like to attend.

We will have a leadership meeting that discusses a variety of topics – spanning membership recruitment to overall leadership – and will be including a variety of external experts to contribute to the workshops. NCTE is learning an incredible amount, and we want to share the new information with affiliates – and then strategize together.Check out the agenda.

We have leveraged our relationship with Atlanta to provide reasonable room rates at the Omni Hotel as well as meeting space in the attached Georgia World Congress Center. These arrangements will allow NCTE to create a new opportunity in support of each affiliate and our shared mission.

Please note that each affiliate can send only two representatives and it's time to begin thinking about who from your affiliate should attend. NCTE and the participating affiliates share the cost of the meeting as outlined in the Affiliate Leadership Meeting Reimbursement Policy. Our ongoing conversations with many affiliates have led to this moment and greatly influence our planning.
