NCTE Affiliate Excellence Award - Previous Revision

Purpose:  To establish high standards of performance for affiliate programming and to honor those affiliates which meet these standards. Qualifications for the award represent standards of excellence to which all affiliates should aspire. 

Eligibility:  Affiliates may achieve this level of excellence annually. Any affiliate in good standing is eligible to participate. Only affiliate activities from July 1 of the previous year through June 30 of the current year are eligible. 

Frequency/Number of Awards:  There is no limit to the number of awards. Awards will be given to as many affiliates as qualify and affiliates may win the award each year, if qualified. Awards will be presented at the Affiliate Roundtable Breakfast during the NCTE Annual ConventionNOTE: Affiliates are encouraged to apply for this award each year.  All affiliates are eligible to receive the award each year even if they received it the previous year. 

Award Specifics:  The award will be a certificate presented to each winning affiliate and 20 name badge stickers for winning affiliate members to wear at the NCTE Annual Convention and/or affiliate meetings. Extra name badge stickers are available for a minimal cost from the NCTE Affiliate Office. 

Award Criteria:  Affiliates nominate themselves by completing the two-page application and providing descriptions of programs, copies of publications, and other appropriate documentation to the participating SCOA Representative (David W. Wendelin
12841 W. Asbury Place, Lakewood, CO 80228-4302) no later than July 15 in the year of the award

Administration:  The NCTE Standing Committee on Affiliates will administer the award. The NCTE Standing Committee on Affiliates will appoint a member to handle the judging and the awards specifics. The committee will also provide annual feedback on ways to improve the program so that it runs smoothly. The affiliate director of NCTE will handle the initial publicity and notification to affiliates of the program. 

Judging:  A committee chaired by a member of the NCTE Standing Committee on Affiliates will read each affiliate's award NCTE Affiliate Excellence Award Submission Form and supporting materials.  The committee will choose an unlimited number of deserving affiliates to receive the award.

Deadline:  The NCTE Affiliate Excellence Award Submission Form and supporting materials must reach the participating SCOA Representative (David W. Wendelin
12841 W. Asbury Place, Lakewood, CO 80228-4302) no later than July 15 in the year of the award. The award winning affiliate(s) will be notified in late summer so that they may have a representative present to receive the award at the Affiliate Roundtable Breakfast during the NCTE Annual Convention. This representative is expected to purchase a breakfast ticket with convention preregistration.

Affiliates are to complete both sections of the Submission Form in order to receive the NCTE Affiliate Excellence Award. 

Copies of past winning entries may be borrowed from the NCTE Affiliate Office through the Lending Library.
