NCTE's position statements and guidelines on literacy education issues are developed
- by members (through resolutions voted on during the Annual Business Meeting),
- by the NCTE Executive Committee (on topics often suggested by Council members), and
- by NCTE's constituent groups
and have been used to influence policy at local and federal levels. Have you ever wondered how NCTE's Legislative Platform is developed? Watch this short video and listen as Jennifer Ochoa, chair of NCTE's Government Relations Subcommittee, describes the conversations with legislative staffs that led to the writing of the document that NCTE and its members will use to guide their literacy education advocacy efforts.
