Throughout its 100-year history, NCTE has emphasized the importance of access to libraries and to books and is excited to work with First Book in a new partnership that puts more high-quality books into the hands of children in need. See "20 Years. 90 Million Books." for more on First Book.
Join other NCTE members to get books in the hands of students in Clark County, Nevada (site of the NCTE Annual Convention). There's been a tradition of conventiongoers bringing a book for donations collected at each Convention. But with the NCTE Virtual Book Drive, there's no need to carry a book along, AND all NCTE members can participate whether you attend the Convention or not.

First Book, a nonprofit organization that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, has distributed more than 90 million books and educational resources to programs and schools serving children from low-income families throughout the United States and Canada. Any teacher serving 70% or more children in need (US/Canada), or any teacher in a Title I or Title I-eligible school (US), may register to take part in the program.
