On the Report of the President's Commission on Campus Unrest

Background

The National Council of Teachers of English welcomes the Scranton Report on Campus Unrest because it offers an opportunity to study this vital and complex issue in contemporary society. The Council urges a full reading and examination of the Report itself before making judgments on its value. Be it therefore

Resolution

Resolved, that the National Council of Teachers of English go on record as deploring the quick dismissal of the Report of the President's Commission on Campus Unrest by some members of the administration and Congress; and

          that the Council urge its own members and commissions and committees to read carefully the Report of the President's Commission on Campus Unrest.
