2002 Annual Report, Advisory Committee of People of Color
The Advisory Committee of People of Color met in Baltimore on November 16, 2001. The Committee continues to develop active participation plans for involving people of color in the Council.
Committee members focused on planning the committee workshop for Atlanta. They also discussed the Executive Committee response to the 1995 report from the Task Force on Involving People of Color in the Council.
The Chair reported that Rainbow Strand participation in convention planning continues to be useful. The convention policy on multiple speaking roles continues to be a concern because of its adverse impact on many participants of color. To address this new concern and continuing concerns about the active inclusion of people of color, it is imperative that Rainbow Strand planners continue as participants in convention planning.
Sandra E. Gibbs, staff liaison, encouraged members to complete forms and submit their information for inclusion in the talent file of people of color.
