Books and Monographs
For books, monographs, and other lengthy manuscripts, NCTE publications policies and procedures apply. These policies and procedures address questions on how to submit a prospectus or manuscript, who approves it, who edits it, and how it becomes a published document. See the paragraph below and Appendix B, "NCTE Book Submission Guidelines."
When a manuscript is being developed in the name of a committee, drafts should be circulated appropriately among committee members for their suggestions. The chair may need to take a strong role in settling disputes among members and in working out compromises. If a call for manuscripts from outside the committee is to be issued, it should clearly state that manuscriptsare being solicited for a proposed volume so that potential contributors do not assume that publication of the work is guaranteed by NCTE.
