Books and Monographs
For books, monographs, and other lengthy manuscripts, NCTE publications policies and procedures apply. These policies and procedures address questions on how to submit a prospectus or manuscript, who approves it, who edits it, and how it becomes a published document. See the paragraph below and Appendix B, "NCTE Book Submission Guidelines." When a manuscript is being developed in the name of a Commission or Standing Committee, drafts should be circulated appropriately among the group's members (or a subcommittee) for their suggestions. The Director/Chair may need to take a strong role in settling disputes among members and in working out compromises. If a call for manuscripts from outside the Commission/Standing Committee is involved, it should clearly state that manuscripts are being solicited for a proposed volume so that potential contributors do not assume publication is guaranteed by NCTE.
