MOTIONS – MEETING THE NEEDS OF AUDIENCES CURRENTLY UNSERVED/UNDERSERVED BY NCTE
November, 2007

Motion 2007:52
By the end of 2010, NCTE will have piloted at least one partnership with an alternative certification or teacher residency program for at least 25 teachers in process of earning certification. NCTE will provide these teachers with the in depth sustained support of its resources. In addition, by November 2010, a report on the efficacy (including data about teacher engagement and retention) of this program as a model will be presented to the Executive Committee.

Motion 2007:53
By November 2010, NCTE will have published a policy research study on alternative certification programs in literacy education that offers insights and advice about sound organizational structures and effective practices for administrators of these programs and the policy makers who either authorize or
direct them.
